What's the best way of cleaning a steering wheel? Ive found lately that its a bit on the dirty side and when I next have a clean up inside the car I want to give it a once over, but I can't seem to find many products which are specially designed for wheels; in fact, most specifically advise against using them on steering wheels and gear knobs because they will of course, make them slippery.

What do you guys use to clean the wheel with, if at all? Mine is just rubber (I think). I did once just try going over it with some warm water and a kitcken cloth, but it turned it into a slippery mess which caught me out the next time I tried to park up using the palm of my hand. Im guesing there was still some sort of cleaning reisdue on the cloth which made it onto the wheel.

try a damp rag and elbow grease.
it really shouldn't make it slippery

maybe put a small dot of washing up liquid on the rag too. that's what i normally do

edited this post about 5 times now, but just thought to add, a dirty wheel can also be a bit sticky, so when you clean it you might notice a bit less grip because of this.
