Hi

I am having some problems booting in to Windows 10 after doing a clean install from recently downloaded image files from Microsoft on to USB.

It reimages ok and gets to the Windows Setup area where you add Language, User account details and then suddenly it just makes screen go blank. HDD activity light on, num lock on/off fine but nothing on the display.

The PC is plugged in to a full HD TV and it was working fine before the clean install albeit a 32bit version of W10 whereas now I am on 64-bit.

It's a Dell Optiplex 9010 PC so is 64-bit capable. I am wondering if it is graphics related if so how can I get around that as can't boot in to Windows to get drivers etc

I bet it's updating a driver that it's downloaded in the background. Try removing the network cable, or not connecting to Wi-Fi until setup is complete and you're at the desktop.

Nailed it !!

Yes I unplugged LAN and I could get in to the desktop. Got in to Windows 10 now, but almost lost it again when I plugged LAN in again, this time it was just flickering like mad all the time but I was able to at least see what was going on to a degree. Downloading drivers now for display etc.

edit: The Intel software seems to be setting the refresh rate to 30hz which is what is causing the flickering. Each time I adjust it it just reverts back. Waiting for the driver to download and see what that brings.

Drivers didn't make any difference so I then dug out my TV remote and checked the settings. Turns out for some reason 3D was enabled again on this HDMI port. It wasn't before so have no idea why it came on like that. The PC was plugged in to same port before.

well I thought it was that but the PC died on me now. Can install Windows 10, gets to desktop and then just goes mental and blank screens so think the GPU is dying. It's old anyway but was going to use it for a retro gaming PC. I'll just have to get a new one

Does it work if you use the inputs on the Motherboard?
