I've just upgraded my mid 2009 MBP from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and I notice that some of the iLife Apps (IMovie, iPhoto, Garageband) that came with SL are not included in Mavericks.

Is there anyway of installing these from the SL discs that came with the laptop or do I have to purchase them? Can I re-install them from my SL Backups even?

Thanks.

iLife was never included with OS X, but was pre-installed on all machines. You'd have got two grey DVDs with the Mac. The first is OS X, the second has the bundled iLife applications.

Run that second disk again, then check for updates.

Hmm… isn't iLife free with Mavericks through the Apple store? Pfft…

In addition to the new operating system, new versions of both the iWork and iLife software packages are also available for Mac users free of charge, though with a slight catch. Users won't able to download the new programs and install them, but will need to buy new Apple devices to get access to the new programs.

I remember reading that ages ago. So misleading.

Quick update. I made a Geious Bar appointment and 20 min later they'd installed all the Apps for me: Garage Band, iMovie, iPhoto etc. He was quite surprised that they didn't install with the original Mavericks install and he had to install from disk then update from Ap Store.

Thanks MasgicBoy, I had the discs and should have done this myself.
