Over the last few days i seem to be getting more jitters than usual, bit of disk scratching noise and occasional read erros, most read errors within 30 mins or turning the 360 on.

I wasn't sure if any dvd-drive cleaners would work best with the 360 or any that work better than others?

I stumbled upon a PS3 forum saying if you eject the 360 tray, pour in a jug of water close, and shake it about, it should clean the drive, but i took that as shenanighans!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's the funniest thing I have ever read. Don't do that it will break ;)

I suppose any sort of lense cleaning disc with solution would work fine.

I really can't believe you had to inform him that would break his Xbox 360.
What's even scarier is that he wasn't quite sure if they were winding him up in the first place!

Mine is doing this also, my replacement which i received in august the drive seems to be on its way out its struggling to read disks, while it works for the most part it gives dirty disk errors every now and then (the disk itself is perfect on 2 separate games).

Now how long is the warranty of replacement consoles does it go off the original console or does the replacement get a brand new years or so warranty?

Will MS replace my console on the errors I'm receiving now or will i have to wait for the drive to totally die?

Sorry to steal your thread but hopefully these will answer your questions too.

If you open the drive up you can adjust the resistor pot values so the laser becomes more powerful. This should help it read better.
