I have just had some 50oz 80/20 wool carpet put down, it's amazing, but I also know that it's harder to keep clean than the artificial stuff.

Does anyone have any cleaning tips/products that they use with this type of carpet?

I am pretty careful but at some point I am going to spill something on it, and I do know that making it too wet will make it fluffy.

I have wool carpets in a lot of areas, we just use a Vax carpet cleaner with rug doctor carpet shampoo

They clean up fine, ive never even considered the fact that they are wool.

I run a deep cleaning company and do carpet cleaning as one of our main services.

Don't use vanish is my first advice. People way too often use vanish to remove a mark and end up making a bit bleach mark bigger than the original stain. Now the stain could maybe be removed by a pro, but the bleach fibres remain.

Be careful not to brush too hard if you do get a mark and trying to remove it. Dabbing with a wet cloth is good. Or a soft brush can help remove a mark when couple with a good product.

Wool carpet wants to be left very slightly acidic. If you use something like soap to clean a mark, you'll want to neutralise. You can use a very weak bit of fairy in hot water, then rinse away when done with a tiny bit of vinegar in hot water and a new cloth. Bonus is your carpet will smell like fish and chip shop. Don't worry though vinegar doesn't smell when dry.

Typically though the best option if you do spill something is to dry up as much of the spill as you can and then get a pro in.

I'm happy to offer advice if you do get a spill post in here or trust me and I'll give advice as best I can.

Typically the biggest issues come now from the solution used, but from it not properly being neutralised and rinsed away.

Rug doctor I'd not recommend. To make up for a lack of heat and suction, it increases product strength. And that can damage
