Hi all,

How do you guys clean your screens? Tv, monitors, laptops screens etc?

My tv is a handprint mess (from the kids) and a dry microfiber cloth won't cut it.

Everything online suggests using distilled water but this seems hard to find in the UK, only deionized water seems easily available which no one mentions is suitable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Personally I use a microfibre cloth dragged very lightly over the screen to remove the dust first, then a slightly dampened microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints etc. Just don’t rub the screen too hard and always clean the screen when it is switched off and has cooled down fully. This works on TVs, monitors and laptops

I use something called Screen Mom. It's expensive but comes in a HUGE bottle. There is enough to last me a lifetime. That and a very clean microfiber cloth.

I'd imagine any company making deionised water would remove any hard bits in the manufacturing process so it's probably not an issue.

At work we had Office Depot Screen & Keyboard Cleaner spray, I'm not sure how it compares with other products but it's basically deionized water as you'd expect.

If you have a very greasy screen I read somewhere mixing a tiny drop of washing up liquid into a fair amount of water does the trick, spray that onto the microfibre and gently rub. Then as per the normal process go over again with just water and finally dry with a clean microfibre.

Microfibre cloth to remove dust

Spray bottle with normal tap water and microfibre cloth for light cleaning

Glasses lens wipes for anything more stubborn

A slightly dampened (with water) microfiber cloth is all you really need.

If you are a bit of a scruff and your screen is covered in greasy finger prints and blobs of gravey, mix a very little amount of fairy liquid and water to dissolve the fats.
