Cleaning a Shower Screen?

Yet to find a limescale remover that works as well as Viakal, strong smell but works a treat.

A quick squeegee after a shower helps prevent it happening in the first place.

I'm not sure if it's classed as limescale or soap scum tbh :D

I think it's a bit of both. I agree squeegee here and there too, have one in the shower for a quick wipe down but over the years it's built up and decorating the room soon so want it as fresh as poss!

generally need both a limescale remover and then a multi-surface detergent like dettol use a dry nylon pan sponge like aldis and gloves,
rub in descaler and make several passes over 20mins or so.
best descaler I have is a eu one starwax superpuissant with phosphoric acid (-need- gloves, i wear glasses anyway) but viakil is nearly as good

same technique for tiles&taps

If your not a complete klux and hamfisted then the best first stage is to use a window scraper (such as https://www.toolstation.com/stanley...9-pBG4xCApIRIFNaAnhoCUjYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Draw/pull it slowly down the screen (backwards in effect) and a high percentage of the scum/water hardness will just flake off, its the temporary hardness and its not that hard in effect
Then you will find it far more efficient to use a product such as viakal as its only working on a small volume of stuff you want to remove not trying to dissolve large amounts

you can even do it directly with a stanley blade but the scraper makes it easier to get the correct balance of pressure

Note this is for glass screens.

As others mentioned, wiping/squeeging down frequently will help reduce the build up. As the water dries it leaves the marks, as they build up a larger and larger quantity of water can reside, vicious circle

We dry our shower after every shower -Use a blade to get most of water off then a Microrfibre car drying towel to dry it completely -There is always a fight to shower first as last one out cleans .
I clean it properly about three times a year and use diluted mr muscle and spray all over then use a car sponge to wash it all down -leave for few minutes them shower it off - blade and dry then use a good glass cleaner on glass and as we have shower boards and not tiles I then put Collenite car wax on boards - One good thing to do is at least dry the chrome after each shower if nothing else.
One other thing is we hold the towel hard into corner of screen - wall- tray -it sucks any water out of screen framing.

Over all drying shower is a right PITA. but shower looks new at 10 yrs old

As others, we squeegee and dry ours, but it once got really bad.
We used a product called "Shedazzle" Think its a clay based product. No idea why we had it in the cupboard or where we got it from. It said it was suitable for glass and It worked really well.
(I suspect the missus had been late night shopping on the TV :D)

Prevention is better than cure :) When it's clean, rub some rain-x on it. Future soap and limescale will wipe off with just a cloth and some CIF.

I've always used a Karcher window vac after every shower (mine is a floor to nearly ceiling glass panel) and never had any issues with soap or limescale residue, wife cleans the shower with Viakal every few weeks as well but we've never had an issue with it, must be due to cleaning after every use.

Thanks for that suggestion! May give that a go, funnily enough I saw a clip of someone doing it the same way when looking it up. Looks effective

Purchase 2 litre's of White Vinegar, decant into a spray bottle. Spray shower and chrome once or twice a week.

Simply leave the vinegar to do its work for an hour and then squeegee post shower. Never had an issue. Personally, the smell of vinegar doesn't bother; it disperses quickly with skylight/window.

Use a bathroom cleaner (with bleach) to disinfect tray and remove soap scum build up around the plug/edges.

Seal it with something like wax or a synthetic sealant and water will bead off it leaving less water on the glass to dry after each use. Top it up a few times a year.
