we have moved a tv at work i had in store that had a previous life in a eating area with microwaves present. it appears to have a oily film across the tv, i have tried regular non alcohol screen cleaner , all this does is move it around.

I have read on the interweb people using 50% isopropyl to 50% water?? is this safe..

alternatively i do have some isopropyl wipes, but clearly i cant dilute this

I'd try sugar soap wipes. Sugar soap is pretty good at removing stuff like oil & tobacco stains.

What cloth are you using I found those supermarket ones useless for getting smudges smears off , want something very fine like you would clean glasses or a camera lens with , I got some large cloths 12 x 12 off the rainforest eco fused they are called . Used a damp normal cloth then buffed off with those worked well

Use car shampoo w/o anti-smear add-ins; would never use alcohol (windolene has ipa too no ?) applied on damp lint free cotton cloth,
then dry off with good quality tissues w/o clay. - baby shampoo would be good too.

but yes - should maybe try the car DAP next time

tv's have special films/filters on the screen.

someone ruined their tv by cleaning it using chemicals half the tv then had the filter and the other didn't. they then had to remove the filter from the full tv.

baby wipes nothing else. sugar would definitely ruin it as would harsh chemicals.

if it's really bad then get work to buy a new one. you can pick up a tv for peanuts in supermarkets.
