I need to give my Leon Cupra a very good clean and polish. What stuff do people recommend and how do they rate the following as these are what I'm looking at the mo:

Meguiar's NXT Car Wash
Meguiar's Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover
Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax
Meguiar's The Ultimate Wash Mitt

Not sure about what I should use for drying the car and waxing it.

Cheers,

I find the NXT Wash is one of the best I have ever used and even removes most dirt from my alloys.

The NXT Wax is more hit and miss and I had a good result on one car and not so good on another.

The Ultimate Wash Mit is great and the reverse side of it has a soft mesh that you can use to gently remove tar and bugs. Just make sure you have 2 buckets of water to rinse in between, and your paint work will love you forever!

EDIT: WD40 does just a good a job as the specialised bug/tar removers.

I use the NXT Wash and NXT Wax both give a fantastic result and i would reccomend them, also get a clay bar the one in the pack with the spray.

Which NXT wax do you use?

What drying towels do you suggest as well.

Also what wax cloths do you recommend?

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax (532ml) (LS-011-MG)

I use a Blade to get most of the water off then leather shammy to dry the rest, then Meguiar's Foam Applicator Pads (Twin Pack) (LS-052-MG) you actually get one free with the polish i would deffo get some of this Meguiar's Quick Clay Detailing System (473ml) (LS-008-MG) takes some time but well worth the effort.

So what selection would you go for?

The NXT wash is the best I've ever used - so get that.

Personally I'd go for Autoglym Super Resin polish to clean the paint, and Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to seal it, nice results, long lasting and dead easy to put on and polish off.

My problem with the NXT wax was that it was a pig to get it off the paint.

Bear in mind you've not actually selected any polish there - just wash and wax. It'll need polishing after the wash. Waxing it after is up to you if you have the time - it's worth it though - it will make washing the car for the next few months a piece of p***.

As for bug removal - I actually use Autoglym motorbike cleaner.

If your using the spray on wax then microfibre cloths are what you want. The best ones i've used are the car plan ones from poundland. I normally have half a dozen on the go and wash them all together when they get gunky.

EDIT- I thought you polished before waxing

EDIT 2- oops, I should get some glasses, I thought you said polish after wax, instead of after wash :o

I sometimes go to one of those hand car wash places. They spray the car with something that seems to loosen/disolve most of the grime before they wash it. Helps stop them rubbing any dirt into the paint.

Any ideas what it is? I thought perhaps one of those acidic/lemon juice products like for mountain bikes?

Sticky with what you want / need at the begining would be best rather than having to look through all these posts, could be added to the existing sticky tbh since i think we have the max amount of stickys for the car forum.

It's exactly the same stuff as Autoglym Motorbike cleaner. I'm no chemist, but it's the same stuff.

Most of the valleting firms around the West Mids buy their stuff from a company called Sterling Products - http://www.valeting-products.co.uk/index.html, I don't think they sell to private individuals though - only to the trade. They are actually clients of mine so I may try to scank some free cleaning stuff of them when my stock runs out. :p
