I don't see the point in over priced products when a piece of kitchen roll and nail varnish remover work perfectly.

Couple of quid for a bottle of IPA and use it with a glasses cleaning cloth. Job done!

most local electronics stores will have packs of one or 2 ipa wipes for pennies

failing that kitchen roll and anything with alcohol in it or dry kitchen roll is fine too just takes a few extra wipes

I use the Arctic Silver TIM remover and cleaner. I've had it years and still works fine:

Make sure to use it with kitchen paper, NOT toilet paper or else you will get loads of bits of paper all over the surface!

i used good old "Brasso Gadget Cleaner" and toilet roll (clean, obviously!) i used the gadget cleaner because it claimed to "remove grease". does the trick, so i used it on my sister's cpu and a gpu as well

I've used Kitchen roll only, cotton buds, nail varnish remover, and a bit of acetone. All seem to work just fine, although acetone is the easiest - just don't spill it!

Out of interest, is there anything you should be doing to a fresh new CPU out of the box? I'm meaning like cleaning it with some IPA too?

Kitchen roll works fine for me.

And 2 posts above i've always just put my new ones straight in, would have thought that's how you're meant to.

Use TIM clean, only becasue it makes your work space smell lovely and lemon fresh

a friend eh??? i also have one of these errrrrr "cleaning socks" comes in very "handy" when wiping away "excess fluids" from "delicate places" like a cpu for example
