Hi without using specialist cleaner to clean the cpu hs what can you use that is normaly lying around to get the artic silver offf the HS and make a nice contact ?

I always use lighter fluid (in a well ventilated room) work fine for me, though you need a fair bit of kitchen towel roll as it dissolves the AS pretty quickly.

I maybe stuck in the stone ages but i use soft tissue to wipe it off, them some damp tissue, then again with a dry tissue..

what kind of polish ?
Hi Tron, I meant polish as in manual labour polish (rub rub rub).

This is the stuff I use. . .

Akasa Citrus Cleaner - £3.00
Aerosol of Isopropyl - £6.99
Bog Roll - Free

Washable Lint Free Cloths - £3.00

The Can of Isopropyl is a must-have for any PC enthusiast, will last you a year or two. I only use the Akasa Citrus cleaner for really stubborn goo, it just gets dissolved by the citrus stuff.

The Lint free clothes are nice for the final clean as they don't leave tiny fragments of fluff like the bog roll does! :D

The can of Servisol isopropyl is from a high street electronics shop and the washable lint free cloths are from a well know car accessories shop.
