Hey Peeps,

Just acquired this used DTEK v2 LGA775 CPU block and having trouble cleaning it. I started off cleaning it in some soapy water that got it looking a bit cleaner so left it to dry and have now just had a go with some Isopropyl Alcohol. However as you can see the block has a lot of blue staining, I'm guessing that some colourant was used by the previous owner in their water :(

I've read about the tomato ketchup trick and also white vinegar. I'm most concerned about the face of the cpu block though as there appears to be a lot of staining including finger prints which won't budge with the alcohol. Maybe I need to use a bit of wet-n-dry 1200 grit to tidy the surface up?

Anyway any tips appreciated, I'm going to get some white vinegar, ketchup and a new toothbrush to help :)

ketchup and a tooth brush - works every time (but you may not get it completely stainless) It will be fine as is tbh.

lap the base if you must but remember that shiney doesn't equaly flat.
and you may kill the machined bow (if it has one can't remember)
load of guides on how to do it
