Somehow I managed to get cleaning fluid on the underside of my cpu. I've cleaned it off I think, have I damaged it?

That's citrus degreaser. It'll leave some residue behind, I wouldn't want that between the copper pins myself. Any chance you can clean it with IPA before installing it?

I dont have any in the house but I might be able to get some from town tomorrow. Have I destoryed my cpu now?

Probably not. If the pins aren't corroded and you haven't put any current through it I imagine it's fine. The concern would be if you put it in the motherboard while there's still some of the tim cleaner on the pins, as this could end badly.

It will *probably* work fine if you put it in the motherboard now. But if it doesn't, you could be looking at cpu and motherboard dead. I think it's probably worth tracking down some IPA. Certainly that's what I'd do anyway.

Processors are pretty resilient, but the less there is between socket pins and processor the better.
