I just bought a used Corsair H50 for an old build, but it needs cleaning badly. However compressed air do nothing to the dust on the fins, it seems like its so sticky it just stays there. I've seen a few suggest putting it in water for a few hours and let it dry for a few days, or even use a hair dryer to speed up the process.

You guys recon it's safe to do so? It seems a bit hazard to drop it in water, but i guess the electronis are placed at on the mounting head?

Yes you can if you want too, if its all sticky and whatnot.
Just make sure to use distilled/pure water whatever it's called instead of tap water, don't want the minerals and whatnot on the rad.
The radiator part of the cooler is water tight (for obvious reasons), just keep the pump part away from water or......

I already tried a toothbrush, but its just so sticky. It was cheap, so i think i will take my chances on the distilled water :)

Thanks

There's no problem using dish soap and warm water in sink and soaking the radiator in it for awhile. Obviously take the fan/fans off and don't get the pump wet. After you've get it clear you can rinse it with distilled water if you want but it doesn't really matter other than less chase of water spots on radiator when you are done.. Using distilled water to wash it with makes no sense. The soap or whatever cleaner you are using will leave residue on it anyway.

Ive washed air coolers in water loads of times. A shower on power setting works wonders in between tightly spaced fins. Leave it to dry out on a radiator or the airing cupboard.
