Anyone any ideas how to degrease/oil a chambered inlet manifold?

Thought about taking the steam cleaner to it, my arm gets stuck so far in the TB opening..

Will the steam get rid or am I just about to make a right mess for nothing?

I don't know if this it exactly relevant to what you mean, but in it, it recommends carb cleaner (halfords sells it).

EDIT: I think it's more about carbon deposits than grease... ?

Yeah I could waste my whole tin in there and I am confident I'd only get a 1/4 of it at best, there is quite a few miles of buildup there.

Don't want to use anything acidy/caustic soda.

IM assuming your taking the manifold off to clean? (unless your attatcking the engine with the steam cleaner!)
If so - I usually use 'Jizer' with various brushes (washing up brushes ideal) then dunk the whole thing in a HOT bucket with some 'extra value' detergent :D, then wash off in hot clean water

i found that the outside of mine cleaned up well using gunk spray. mine is aluminium, youve not given any info on yours though.

as for the inside, it went in a chemical bath and then i fitted a catch tank to keep it clean :D

right once I eventually got the 5th enjector out... shower on max, WD40 and a toilet brush... poured boiling kettles down the inlet runners as well. My shower has a new speckled carbon look, manifold looks like new. :)
