Hi guys

My laptop screen is getting really dirty but i have no idea what to use to clean it. I'm a bit scared of using anything atm incase i damage it.
Any suggestions of what is safe to use to clean the screen.

Thanks :)

Pssst, which type of screen is it? ... it might help knowing, that way the correct type of suggestions will I'm sure roll in ;)

Laptop screens use a protector, like most LCD screens these days.
Nothing you use will damage the screen, aslong as it's not some strong acid based stuff or something.

If scratches is what your worried about, use some kind of pledge or something with a soft cloth.

I just use normal household glass cleaner, but spray it on the cloth so it doesn't run down into the bottom and blow the inverter. Use a microfibre cloth also those nasty yellow ones leaves bits everywhere.

In my experience you've got to be careful as some screens have a 'coating' that if you're not careful you can rub off which will be noticeable every time the screen catches the light. With this in mind I would be careful of using such things as Alcohol as it can be too abrasive, likewise 'Polish' such as Mr Sheen contains a wax. Water and a Microfibre cloth are a sensible suggestion and safe too.

These days I use: 'Computer Care Screen Cleaner' google it, and include the quotes and look out for Order Code: N55BX from ****** which is a good all round cleaner. The general advice however is to try any cleaner in a corner, away from the area you look at daily.

Don't use any chemicals to clean a laptop screen. All you need is a good quality microfibre cloth, water and a fine mist spray bottle.

Spray a fine mist over the screen first and then wipe off the excess water straight away with the cloth.

Then work the cloth in circles applying slight pressue to remove the smudges.

This can also be done to clean the chasis and keyboard.
