Cleaning Lens

breath and wipe with t-shirt works every time!

I've never worried about the front element being spotless as it makes very little difference if any in use.

Make sure you put the filter on in a dry room, if there's moisture in the air when you screw it on you will get condensation when your camera gets cold.

Make sure you let the cleaning fluid fully evaporate too. Keep gently polishing the lens with the microfibre cloth until it does. Also use a clean part of the cloth to finish the job when you're done without the spray.

This really, you can smash up the front element and it makes very little difference.

A quick wipe-down when it gets especially bad is all that is required.

The rear element is much more important.

Very much true. Unless there's a DEEP scratch on the front element, there's a high chance grazes and cleaning marks will not effect image quality. I work as a camera rental technician for film and TV and I alternate between being proper with expensive equipment using my breath and a t-shirt for my own gear!

If you wish to be a perfectionist, spray your IPA/cleaning solution on to lint-free tissue (not on to the lens itself) after using canned air (spray away from the lens to ensure no propellant gets on the lens if the can has been knocked about or stored on its side) and wipe in a circular motion. For best results, throw the original tissue away and wipe the front element down with a fresh one.
