I have a 20" Dell 2007WFP monitor and in the 18 months that I've had it, it hasnt been properly cleaned. Its had the occassional wipe over, but its difficult to remove the fingerprints, smears and dust from it. On a previous monitor I used what I thought was a soft cloth, but I might as well have used wire wool, as it scratched it to bits.

What is the best solution to making your monitor look brand new again? I've heard a solution of distilled water is best?

I use screen cleaning wipes by IXOS to clean my screens and they work pretty well on plastic aswell. Just make sure you use an non abrasive cloth.

On my work screen I used to use LCD screen wipes which evaporated very quickly for smear free action. These don't work so well on glossy screens though so on my Hazro I use a microfibre cloth immediately after wiping the screen down with a damp tissue. thsi gives 100% smear free results :)

Microfibre cloth, don't use tissue to wet the screen though, wet a corner of the cloth.

If you have really stupbborn marks that wont shift this way, use 1 part Isopropyl Alcohol to 1 part water. Make sure the alcohol is pharmacy grade (your local chemist may need to order it in).
