What does every use to clear off thermal paste off CPUs and heat sinks? I am going to remount my TT BT tomorrow or the day after and I don't want to No swearing! up my CPU or £30 heat sink.

simple cheap effective method..

use screen wipes!

they have ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL and 0.1% pure water they work absoloutly excellent i have just actually cleaned off a cpu and heatsink this after noon use a credit card or somthing to get rid of the solid gunk first then wipe the remains down with a screen wipe

I have a bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol too, doesn’t say 99% though is that ok? What do you guys use to clean it with? I tried it with cotton buds, it takes a while and I am sure it left scratches though.

Forward Chemicals Metsol Cleaning Swipes are the best I've found. They are impregnated with something that really does clean TIM and swarf from heatsinks. I used 7 cloths to get my AC Freezer 7 Pro clean. It was visibly clean, and if you rubbed it with a piece of kitchen roll nothing came off, but the swipes kept pulling grey 'grit' out for quite some time. Then I put it all back in again as recommended by AC.
