Hey guys,

Been browsing around the internet but keep getting the same old mixed opinions. So I thought to come here and ask.
I'm moving cases today and I want to make my parts all clean and dust free. Was thinking using compressed dust, hairdryer and maybe a vacuum.

Might try and find a squeeze duster too.
Well this stuff be okay? Any tips and tricks you guys can give me? The hairdryer I was planning to set it cold setting and just blow over the motherboard when everything is taken out

Edit: I was even thinking buying a cheap tire pump! Even they can be quite powerful haha

A hairdryer doesn't sound like a bad idea. You just want to avoid any moisture getting on your components.

Not sure on whether an ESD band would be a good idea, I've never used one. But place the components on a clean flat and non conductive surface and just hairdryer them. That's what I'd do.

Ensure you direct air down the cooling fin channels to blast out any dust.

Just get compressed air from as cheap as possible and blast the dust out and catch it with the hoover from about 12" away. Don't use a duster or the vacuum directly on the components in case of static. A tire pump probably won't have enough force.

I use an electric air bed pump, cost me about 7 quid delivered from the bay,

Thanks guys, I'll take your tips on board.
For grounding I was going to wear some latex gloves which I thought should be okay but again it's very thin rubber? I used them last time but I wasn't doing any major parts, just installing SSD

Edit: electric bed pump sounds like a good idea actually

I just earth myself on the kitchen tap to discharge any static and then crack on with it.

I've got one of those micro nozzle vacuum sets and it seems to work really well. I use one of those compressed air dusters to blast stuff out if necessary.

You can leave the psu plugged in and switched off at the unit and the wall. That grounds the case, but I know some people are uncomfortable doing this.

Thanks for the help. I will make sure I'll just touch my case every few seconds to keep myself grounded and I'll be installing on wooden floor and table as well.
Least I have a few ideas what I can use when i go out later
