cleaning PC

the amout of times i see this thread cans of compressed air ain't mega money and they last ages if u don't go stoopid with it.
hoover and dust your house regularly
open windows to air the house which settles the dust to the floor
use a paint brush to dust inside then hoover it up
then and only then use your compressed air leaving the hoover running inside the case to pick up the particles otherwise ur just blowing back onto everything
my 400ml can is still half full after 2 months and it only cost 4 quid just shop around
end of the day A CLEAN HOUSE= A CLEAN PC IMO
 
I'm looking at buying an air compressor. My video card temps are steadily rising and having to increase the fan speed now is irritating as the noise is unacceptable for idle. This is particularly bothersome as I have just had my ears syringed as well. :D

Can anybody recommend a suitable compressor that they have used or bought?

(Have tried taking the shroud off but I can't seem to get it off, a compressor would make it straight foward).
 
I have used a 1300watt leaf blower now for about four years and it has never caused me a problem with any of my four computers.
 
Well you guys are not going to like this but way back in the past when I worked in the electronics industry we cleaned our PCBs by washing them in warm soapy water and rinsing in warm clean water. Every couple of years I have done this to all my PCs in turn (mobo/graphics card/network card/(not modem cards unless the relay is sealed)/cpu fan and cooler/memory). I have never had a single failure. The trick is of course to dry everything min 24 hours in a good airflow (top of a grilled radiator is fine). Use de-ionized water to rinse.

Once tried a Dyson and bent and sucked the PC to death. Won't go there again!

brilliant! I'm just going to stick the components in with the daily wash on 30 degree setting- cant beat clean shiny GFX card:o

or

use an electrolux cause "Nothing sux like an electrolux":)

I've got to say Ric, I do admire your plums for that! I wouldn't even think of doing that, but if it worked for you then great! :)
