Cleaning screens

Bit of a daft question, but I'm going to ask anyway.

Does it matter what i use to clean my monitor screen? I have a dell 2713 and dont want to use something that may affect the screen coating. Im not going to use meths :rolleyes:

or anythig like that but i dont want to use soemthing that may react in someway.

just get a cheap tub of screenwipes dude, ya an pick them up for a couple of quid!

snap..or cheap spray, wipe with smooth to avoid scratching or leaving fluff behind.

For some reason I got it stuck in my head that I would somehow affect the screen coating, which isnt very good for my photography.

you might do with harsh cleaning products, but not screen wipes, i bought some really expensive spray and wipe combo things, cost me a bloody fortune, the same day whilst the missus was out, she bought me some cheapo ones, i use the cheap ones more than the expensive stuff!

I just liquid that you clean your glasses with and lightliy spray the screen, then use a pure cotton t-shirt to wipe off. Works a treat.

Lightly damp cloth has never failed me (sometimes if away from water even a bit of saliva helped

)
Seriously, save your change and don't buy any solvents (unless you really want to sponsor the company manufacturer)

I use Spontex Moppets, run under hot water from the tap, as hot as you can handle without burning yourself. Then squeeze as much water out as you can and the wipe the screen.

The water should evaporate as you wipe so you don't get any residue and you get a nice clean screen.

Spit shine!

I just use a damp lint free cloth, Although I do have some LCD Cleaner, works slightly better but never bothed enough to get it out of the cupboard!

I also use a warm damp cloth to wipe my OcUK gaming surface too , unless it's really grubby then I just put it into a pillow case and put it on a 40c quick wash n spin

I've always used Windolene spray and a cloth

I use it to clean up laptop keyboards too, great stuff.
