Cleaning the CPU paste with acetone

I have been reading around to either use isopropyl alcohol or acetone

so i went to my local chemist and all they had was acetone, so i got some ready for tomorrow when i have to swap out my heatsink.

acetone is good to use isnt it? provided i do not get any on the plastic areas.

anyone know for sure?

i use acetone myself (ONLY USE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT AND I MEAN SMALL AMOUNT). It works very well and a small bottle will last you years and years.

I use lighter fuel (Naphta) -- it's very efficient, and also evaporates immediately leaving no residue. And it dissolves pretty much anything greasy, but won't attack plastic etc.

In fact I use naphta for /everything/, even cleaning my kitchen, it's absolutely awesome substance :=)

Pure alchohol on some cotton wool or something similar is best. Try par-linka :D hungarian alchohol, like 93% proof vodka that is supposed to be diluted in water :P
