Cleaning under roof trim

Does anyone here remove the roof trim when they wash their car?

I've got a '99 Astra with the slidey hidey holes for the roof rack and not ever having used them I found that they tend to get full of leaves and dirt hence my decision to remove the whole trim to wash under it.

Good idea? Bad idea?

You can remove them, but be VERY careful, its quite easy to snap the lugs, which means it won't secure back as it should.

The video is quite funny in a sad way.

I wouldn't remove them every time but once per year or so I see no harm if you're careful.
