I have just reinstalled Windows XP on a laptop. To do so, I deleted all partitions and reformatted the entire HDD as NTFS. Having completed the installation, when I start up the laptop it offers me two versions of Windows XP to boot from with a timer counting down from 30 seconds; I choose the default version and that works fine.
I assume that this is something to do with the MBR or something? As far as I recall, there is a file somewhere (? BOOT.CFG ?) where this option is stored and I can edit it to remove the 2nd (meaningless) option - can anyone tell me what the file is called and where it is please?
