Sorry didn't know what to post under so just came to general!

Basically, I'm putting some pc components on ebay and want to get them cleaned before selling.

Heard from a friend that using Vodka is ok to clean them with? Can anyone clarrify this as being ok or would there be a better alternative?

Only for the Processor.. And maybe the graphics card head ! Never put liquid on any other parts. May cause a short connection.

Use a spray can, will do the trick by blasting the dirt from the motherboard and the graphics etc...

I've also been told white spirit works? Only want to remove thermal paste, got canned air for dust.

White spirit will leave a residue - as will vodka.

Best choice is IPA (no not the beer!) - Isopropyl Alcohol - it is an effective solvent and evaporates completely. It can be obtained fairly cheaply from pharmacists.

I've used white spirit now and it seems to have done a good job. I'll explain this when I put it on the bay!
