I ran the first and then upgraded. The new version cleaned another 2GB or so from my drive so I guess it's changed quite a bit under the bonnet!

Just a heads up to anyone who runs Google Chrome and uses CleanMyMac 2, after cleaning my chrome would no longer update; it'd constantly redownload the update and fail so it may be worth unticking anything related to chrome when cleaning.
I ended up just deleting my Chrome profile and resyncing it down.

I wouldn't touch it with someone else bargepole. It's junkware.

Mac OS X performs it's own maintenance daily, weekly and monthly.

That's pretty much my take on it as well. The only time I've ever needed to run any kind of manual maintenance was when I needed to clean the launch services database because it had got a bit confused.

I'm sure these products are aimed at Windows switchers who used to buy the snake oil registry cleaner type programs and think they need the same thing in OS X.

Yeah it's junk, uninstalled it in 2013 and it still comes up now and again, wouldn't bother
