I have a friends laptop which is an own brand of a competitor (I suggest to bin it lol) Its running windows 7 has 8gb ram and an i5 cpu. It takes for ever to load into the windows desk top and become usable, well actualy it doesn't become usable. Without switching to windows 10 and an SSD, is there any software that will scan the pc and suggest bloatware that's not needed.. Im scanning with Malwarebytes for any nasties.

If it still has a mechanical drive for main OS than the best method is a cheap SSD and clean windows 7 install.

or failing that, save time and just do a clean windows 7 install this way you know there is nothing lurking in the background.

Learn your friend how to do some house keeping, run disk cleaner ect once a month and do regular scans.

tbf the laptop specs don't sound that bad i5 & 8GB ram is more than enough for the average user.

run msconfig from the run prompt, go to services and disable most of the non MS services that look like crap, then go to boot and do the same for most of the boot apps.
