When I first got this HardDrive over a year ago I famously said.

"I'll never fill that, not in a million years!"

A year on now i've got the Windows warning that I only have 5% left on my 1,000gb HDD..

Does anyone have any hints and tips on how to clear out the HDD efficently?

there are a few methods you could use

first one is just format the drive and start again but if the drive has a lot of personal data on it and it's your only drive then this might not be an option

have a look at the programs u have installed and ask your self do you really need them
then cut the one's you can do without

then look at the files you have to see if they would better serve your need's by putting them on rewriteable cd or dvd

another option is buy another drive i am a bit lazy myself when it comes to clearing out the files so i have used this option in the past

having mutiple drives has an advantage in as much as i can allocate different size partitons depending on there usage

i find this easier to manage so if my download drive is getting a bit full i just clean out the old files that are no longer need or i have put on to disk

same thing for my games drive if i need space for a new game i back up the game save of one i'm not playing or have lost interest in then remove it to create space
