I've had this laptop for over 4 years, so I expect it's finally died but I'd like a second opinion.

Recently it's been failing to boot up properly, just turning the fans on and not making it to the initial screen.

Sometimes I get a single beep when trying to boot up.

Other times, it successfully boots up, I can get into windows before it blue screens, beeps 4 times and then won't boot up when I try again. In this case, the fans still remain on and the laptop hasn't actually switched itself off. The blue screen doesn't remain on the screen long enough to read the error message (literally on the screen for a split second).

Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm hoping it's just a dodgy HDD.

Cheers :)

hmm, could be the hard drive. I would suggest getting a cheap one or seeing if it will boot of a usb stick, that way you could check.

//edit usb drive probably not an option did not notice the 4 year bit.

In the BIOS it does give the option to boot from a removable device so I may give that a bash.

It would be so much easier to diagnose if the manual told me what each of the beeps meant!

I had this exact laptop, as a rebranded Mesh.

Have you tried opening out the bottom of it, and cleaning out all the dust as it may well be overheating - I remember that mine used to run very hot.

Try that , if not let us know.

I think this is also similar to a Rock laptop. I would try checking the memory.
We had similar issues with 6 Rocks at work and it was down to faulty memory modules.
Agree with Mehul too, these machines used to get really blocked up after a while.
