Got paid today and I'm finally going for it. Going to have to hold out on gfx card and ODD until I get paid again (gonna run an old IDE drive for now), but everything else is good to go. Can you please make sure I haven't made any compatibility errors or suggest any places I could get more bang for buck without raising costs :) Cheers!

I know that you are wanting to buy today but if you could hold out another month and put together say another 100 pounds, you could make your rig a lot more future proof. Such as the i5 CPU, upgraded mobo with ddr3 ram instead of 2. Its your call i know games dont use the 4 cores right now, but paying 100 for a dual seems a bit steep.

Cheers for the feedback guys. I've been saving all summer for this, to give you an idea of my income lol, so as much as I'd be all for getting something for a contemporary socket etc., this is really all I could justify spending (still gotta save up for decent gfx!). As much as the rig is for gaming, I can never afford current titles and just want a rig that runs faster than the one in my sig, and I hear the e8400 is a good overclocker so figured it'd give me a bit of stretch room, and I could always upgrade to a C2Q in a year or two if it became a big need. The HDD I will definately change though, so thanks for the heads up on that one!

My main areas of concern were the mobo and psu, as I do intend to OC (I know the RAM isn't ideal, it's more of a temporary solution tbh).
