Morning folks,

My car went in recently for a product recall related to earthing issues in its steering components alongside a general service. Over the past couple of weeks it has developed a "clicking" sound when I turn the wheel lightly - generally only after around 5 mins of driving when it has come to temperature. The sound is coming from the steering wheel itself - if I turn the steering wheel and listen at the wheels, there is no noise from the suspension or from the wheels themselves. The noise comes regardless of whether air con is on or off and only needs the wheel to be turned slightly (i.e. it isn't a sound that only comes when I turn the wheel a significant amount). Sometimes the wheel seems to squeak as well.

Could this be related to the recall? A quick Google suggests that the sound may be that the clock springs in the wheel need replacing, so I guess that it could have been present before. Has anyone heard anything like this before?

Couple of recordings of the sound:
Clicking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbzeKvDuqaQ (particularly audible at 20-30s)
With added squeaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6qPwt73BTo

Thanks :)
