Afternoon.

I have a little problem with my OCZ Modxstream Pro 600w PSU.

It works fine and I have had no issues with the performance, however in the past few weeks it has started making a strange and annoying noise.

After playing any game the PSU ticks or clicks for about a minute after. Its almost like its cooling down after all the stress from the gaming. When under load and actually in a game it seems fine. That or the GPU fan drowns it out. Under normal desktop conditions it is silent.

Now seeing as the PSU is pretty important would it be best to be safe and just get a new one?

I would like another Modular so was thinking of the Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W. No plans to SLI or Crossfire in the future.

Thanks

How old is it? OCZ are not the best one to choose. I have read some bad stuff about the Corsair range aswell.
Don't skimp on the next one and go for something like a Seasonic. I have had an OCZ 650 running for over a year with no problems at all. It's only after keeping my eye on these forums that I know I made a mistake. It won't happen again.

Hi mate, i had a similar problem with my ocz psu, it turned out that the fan was catching on the grill cover of the psu, i just bent it away slightly and it did the trick. might be worth checking that before buying a new one?

this, somethings heating up and catching, fan or grill or both;)

Thanks for the help.

I did actually take the grill off the fan to see if anything obvious was touching the fan. I might try using it without the grill and see if it solves the problem. At least I will know what needs fixing then. :)
