Hi,

I've got a wordpress site that I'm working on at the moment and things would be a lot easier if I could implement some kind of client area.

It would need to enable a client to log in and upload images, paragraphs of text and potentially check the status of their order.

Is this possible in wordpress? I can't seem to find a plug-in to perform these tasks, so I'm thinking a bit of hacking may be required.

So, has anyone done a client area in wordpress before? :)

Sounds more like you need a content-management-system than Wordpress. I've been reading around Wordpress a bit recently and people seem to recommend using a CMS for CMS stuff and Wordpress purely as a blog for it.

I was thinking this but I must admit I'm a bit stuck in my ways, I love using Wordpress.

I remember trying to use Joomla when I was a lot younger and I just couldn't understand it at all, I think that's put me off other CMS.

Think I might just scrap the client area idea for this site and come up with a work a round, then have a look at some proper CMS for future projects.

I've heard good things about Expression Engine, think this will be my first port of call.

If anyone is interested I've altered my plans slightly and found a compromise.

Contact form 7 plug-in allows the user to upload an image - something I didn't know anyway :)
