Clipped wing mirror : Would you stop

Yep, I'd stop and leave details.

If it's an electric, heated mirror with body colour housing could be an over £200 repair for someone.

I've obliterated a mirror before without leaving a scratch on mine and I didn't stop. Felt guilty for a while afterwards though as I know how expensive they can be.

I had someone hit mine this morning coming past in the left lane which was too tight for his car. It was only a clip with zero damage so who cares, but what made me rage was he didn't even acknowledge me and instead pulled his mirror in as he mounted the raised curb and avoided the next car in line....All it would take is a look over, raise the hand "sorry mate" and all is well.

No it doesn't make you a bad person, it means you are normal. I've clipped a fair few wing mirrors while filtering between traffic on a bike. Never stopped but don't think I've ever broken one properly.

No. One is a pre-meditated malicious act, the other is an accident. Regardless of the response to it, i.e. stopping or not stopping, vandalism is far worse.

IMO, doing the damage is excusable. Leaving no details is as bad as vandalism. The effect on the other party is the same and both are illegal.

in my opinion

way i separate it (keeping things simple)

one guys a scumbag

other guys a scumbag

How could you tell if it was damaged without going back to look?

Never hit a mirror of a stationary car but I remember 3 occasions hitting mirrors with oncoming cars down narrow roads. Never stopped nor did the other drivers ever pull up. Probably should have given chase to the one guy who forced me to take to the grass and yet still obliterated my mirror leaving just some wires and a big dent in the door. No point crying about it though.

I clipped a wing mirror at 5MPH I would be amazed if there was any damage, being likened to a vandal and calling me is a scumbag is just laughable tbh.

For those that would have stopped good for you, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, that probably makes me a bad person!

I fold mine in whenever I park on a busy/narrow road to stop this happening. I've done something similar if you replace the word 'wing mirror' with 'cat'. (no time to react and it scarpered)

I clipped a mirror with my trailer once, I did no damage to the mirror, but did manage to push the door in by about 2 inches! :D

Is hitting a mirror & "doing one" not the same as leaving the scene of an accident & all that???

Did this recently, mine came completely off (£240 replacement) but the one I hit had minor damage. The casing basically popped out so I clipped it back in and left a note stating Id hit it and 'repaired. The man phone me to say it was all ok but it was a company car anyway so he wouldn't have been too bothered either way.
He did appreciate the gesture though and actually apologised to me when I told him how much mine was. I did clearly state it was my bad judgement so no sympathy should be shown.

For me depends on the situation, if someone is parked like a 'tard no i won't leave a note. But if its all my fault then i will.
