Apologies if something similar has been posted before, Couldnt find anything i wanted via search.

I was previously running

FX57
2x512's Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum @ stock timings
Asus Sli-Premium
2x XFX 512 6800Ultras @ Stock.

+ Rest in Sig.

With minor messing i got my machine to run quite happily with a moderate overclock @ 214*14 Bringing me to just under 3ghz.
Runs around 40*c Idle and hits 50/52 Under load

My new Ram arrived yesterday, some nice new ( very shiny ) OCZ Plats ( 2x1gs pc4000 ) and gave my 3d06 score an little kick from 3945 to 4772

Based on me being on Air cooling ( XP120, 120MM Ytech 125cfm fan ) and the idea that i 6volt all my fans at night when i sleep, im looking for any ideas towards what kinda overclock/ram timings i should be looking for.

Being on air, and remembering this before i decided to kick my FSB up to 250x14 as thats what the ram is rated at. I thought id some came take a look at what the experts thought. I really shouldnt be let loose with this type of toy ;).

Any Help towards Ram timings/ Overclock ideas would be great.

I wouldnt bother clocking the ram, Jus up the Multi. Keep the ram at the tightest timings it can do. Then maybe overclock it as far as it will go on those timings and up the multi.

No need to push your fsb to 250 when you have unlocked multi's

kk mate,

ran the ram @ 2.5 - 3,3,5 -2t and seems to be ok.

Going to see if i can head south towards my old corsair timings and hit 1t. ( 2,5,2,2 )

defaulted all timings and volts back to normal

at 200*15 atm. 3,3,3,7-2t - had one BSOD on boot already. something regarding "Trap"

have to head off to work; going to leave it running prime for a few hours whilst im out.

Whats a viable aim for a clock/timing set on this system on air?

edit - Errored before i got out the door, Hardware failure on test1, Ran for 1 minute ~_~

Looks like we are getting somewhere. - maybe i think

Running at.

200x15 @ 1.45 volts
HT x4
Ram @ 3-3-3-7.2t
PCI Clock Sync Locked at 33.33
40c Idle, 47 Max load ive seen so far.

Managed to get up to test 4 on prime, When it used to fail almost instantly on test 1, Going to leave it a while and see how well we do.

Thanks for the help so far lads.

welshtom, wouldnt 250*12 @ 2t 4-4-4-7 for instance be faster than 200*15 @ 1t 2-2-2-5?

because of the higher fsb, both runnign at 3ghz.

no, not at all.
It would be a lot slower. tighter timigs are faster than bigger fsb at slack timings, and those timings are really slack and its at 2t.

So no 200 would be faster then

Ran it for the past 2 days 24/7 on those settings, prime stable or not seems to be ok.

going to mess with the ram timings see what i can get those down to
