So for the past.....year or so i have been getting these on cold boots every say 10-15 boots. I just left it as it was never a problem really but recently i have been getting them slightly more regularly and actually just 5minutes ago got a BSOD while watching youtube.

It never really gets above 40% on the dump and i have to manually restart it.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be? My first guess is due to me having 6 sticks of ram in my system, I remember reading 6 sticks isnt exactly fantastic with X58 chips.

Any help/advice would be great.

(spec in sig)

EDIT: my X5660 is stock, no overclocking at all.

Just to make 100% sure this isn't due to a failing CMOS battery I have went ahead and installed a new one. Motherboard is getting close to 8 years old so it cant hurt.

Still trying to figure out what is causing this....

I have used those boards in the past and they were a nightmare with memory. Try bumping up the memory voltage and maybe remove/reseat.

Have you had any issues with it not recognising all the memory installed?

Nope I had 3x2gb for about 5 years and then added 3x4gb sticks to that and everything has been fine except the odd BSOD, I cant remember if I got them prior to the memory change so I guess I could take the old 6gb out and just use 12gb.

Problem is its not easy to replicate the problem, its 100% random so I could be waiting weeks for something to happen.

Wow ok i just replaced my motherboard battery and I cant believe it but after i think 8 years of use its sitting at 3.27v, the new battery i put in was only 3.22v.....unreal

+1 for raising voltages a touch. That helped it for me on an x58 920 set-up.

So what sort of voltage would you suggest? All my power settings are set to Auto. Also here are the memory modules im using (3 of each, total 6) + my temperatures.
