We aren't needing anything that complicated. And it's not about staff monitoring as much as reducing the time everyone puts in filling out a timesheet, for that to be checked, manually input onto a spreadsheet then input into sage....which for 50 staff takes more time than necessary in todays world.
Can sympathise with that. Even only dealing with 20 staff at a bar, adding up all the hours and people vouching for someone when they forgot to clock in/out and had to biro it on was a nightmare, and confused the machine. Half the time the machine just got huffy and stopped printing times anyway. Adding up staff hours to figure out wages and tips took hours, and you could guarentee someone would complain about rounding etc.
I was probably one of the worst culprits for forgetting to stamp my card, so not blaming them

But I was salaried anyway, and given that if I wasn't there, the bar wouldn't be open, it didn't seem so important.
Edit/ Though, it was interesting for me to see quite how many hours I was putting in for a month, dividing my salary buy that and realising what I made compared to regular staff. One factor in leaving.
At my school now, I have an ID and a fingerprint scan to show I'm there before class starts, but don't clock out. Guess it's just to make sure I'm on time, even though my boss greets me every day on the way in. Ours is a pretty small branch mind, so I suppose it's connected to head office where they deal with all the payroll for bigger places in other cities too. Still seems a little OTT, mind.
