hello all
does anyone know why i am able to get a higher score in 3dmark when i run it in vista than xp?
i have the same speeds 762 clock 1908 shader 1107 memory set in vista and xp.

Always has and always will be. xp is faster than vista period.

In fact reports of the new SP3 for xp says that in some applications xp is now up to 15% faster than vista.

Probably down to the bloated overheads required in running Vista.

For example take a look at how much memory and background programs are running in vista and xp? I bet you more resources are being used in Vista.

Same if you do a clean install of xp, you will find that your 3dmark score would be higher than your current xp score.

However, your difference is small and only 1.6%. I sometimes get a difference approaching that doing different runs on my xp.

3DMark score is dependant on CPU as well, Vista has more things running in the background and more overhead so there is less CPU power available for 3DMark to use.

When I dual booted I would get about 1000 more in XP, the gap is now narrowed to about 500 with sp1 and the 174 drivers. I can just break the 14k mark now in vista
