Clone from HDD to SSD

I need to clone the HDD in my wifes laptop to a new SSD drive. Cany anyone recommend suitable software to clone the drive making the new SSD a bootable drive please? Pref free software but willing to buy if necessary. Thanks

Thanks for the link, unfortunately My SSD is smaller than the original HDD and clonezilla has this limitation, any idea's how to get around this?

Looks like I might be buying new OS then. HP Laptop didnt come with any software disks

EASEUS Todo Backup Home 2.5 did the job without any problems at all thanks.

I agree and have now installed Windows 7 as a fresh install. Its running great now too, so a good upgrade for a 5yr old laptop
