Just bought an SSD for my HTPC and rather than do a full re-install (only installed Win 7 recently so no junk on there) can I clone the drive and restore the image to the SSD? I have Acronis True Image but never really used it before.

Yes Acronis will do the job nicely however make sure you disable disk defrag and enable AHCI in the BIOS. If you haven't got AHCI enabled and you switch it on then you might need to a perform a registry hack to get it working with the current Windows 7 install you are cloning but this is easy enough to do.
