Cloning a boot drive?

At the moment this PC boots off a 74gb IDE, which is slow and noisy. As luck would have it, I have a 74gb Raptor going spare, which is fast and, well, noisy. I'm reinstall-averse, it never goes according to plan for me, so I'd really like to just make an exact clone of the current boot drive on the Raptor... Ideally without paying any money :D THough a paid-for solution would be acceptable. Any suggestions?

HDClone under "Partition Management" section, or you could use WD's own installation utility (both of which are free), also you could use Acronis True Image 10 (but this is not free). :)

Last year Paragon were giving away 2 versions of there software for absolutely nowt .Paragon Back up & Paragon Disk copy .Disk copy is really good .I use it at work now and have cloned our PC's in case of failure .Load the software ,add a second drive [slave] and it will make a perfect copy of your drive . Switch the Pc off reverse the IDE cable and reboot and the cloned drive will now be your master [to test] .I just store the drive away for safekeeping , but it really works well .
