I must admire his effort and what hes made but i agree it is a bit ugly, maybe a better paint scheme might have helped.

Maybe shut/join lines that don't look like the San Andreas fault or Grand Canyon would help.

Nothing "fits", the finish is just terrible, and that is completely overlooking the colour scheme.
