Messing about with Truecrypt and managed to create a 1TB encrypted Windows 7 Drive and was wondering if it's possible to make an exact clone of this drive for backup purposes using something like easeus todo backup or partition master?

I used Acronis True Image a while ago and switched to EASEUS for cloning my System Drive (none encrypted) as I found Acronis not to work very well. Also already have EASEUS Partition Manager and Todo Backup is Free :)

I Know I could just try it and see what happens but these things take ages and just wanted to find out if someone as already done it or who knows for sure it will work.

I've just downloaded EASEUS Todo Backup (Free) and it as a Sector by Sector Disk Clone function. I'm 5% done of an estimated 4hr job on a 1TB Drive so far. I'll post back tomorrow with results :)

Todo Backup didn't work, After Truecrypt prompted me for the password I entered and was told it couldn't find a bootable drive.

Back to the drawing board :(

I would use a linux live cd and just use dd to do a raw copy of the drive. It's guaranteed to work if you don't mind learning a tiny bit of linux foo :)

I'm not great with linux but i do use Ubuntu from time to time, not at all familiar with dd though.

Success :)

I've managed to make an exact clone of my encrypted Windows 7 Boot Drive using EASEUS Disk Copy.

It's a free app that creates a Bootable CD and runs from that, It did take over 10 hours to clone a 1TB hard drive but at least this works.

Hopefully this will be useful info for anyone else trying to achieve the same thing :)
