Cloning desktop

Hi, I am trying to clone my desktop to both a 19" monitior and a hdtv so that when using the tv for xbox/tv i can still use the pc without having to swap cables.

I have both screens set to the same resolution but cannot get them to clone, I tried using ultramon but that told me the screen wasnt ready or something.

They are connected to an ati radeon x1300 graphics card.

Any help appreciated.

The monitior is connected up via vga and the hdtv connected via vga using a dvi converter.

I have tried using the ati hydravision software but cannot find what I am looking for.
