Hey guys

What is the best, and quickest way to clone my current SSD boot drive to another SSD drive - but the drives are different capacity.

You can just use the built in image creation tool on Windows 7 backup & restore centre. As long as the new SSD is equal to or larger than your current one then it will work fine.

It will automatically resize the volume on the destination disk to expand into extra/available space (or shrink, if the destination is smaller but still greater than the sum of files on the original). I've used their main product (TrueImage) for migrating HDD RAID volumes to larger disks with expansion as well, quite handy.

trueimage does the job for me as that seemed to realign the partition properly when using a full disk restore (important that)

but i would bite the bullet and reinstall from scratch tbh.

If you include the 100MB system reserved partition when taking the image then the alignment should be fine. This is included by default when using the image creation tool on Windows 7.

This was discussed before in the HDD section and a number of people stated this is the case when using the system image tool on Windows 7 backup & restore centre with a SSD.
