Hi all, I installed win7 a couple of days ago and I wanted to clone the OS so I can drop it onto an SSD when I buy one in the near future. (& just have a clean backup to resore to if needed)

I notice that Win7 has its own 'backup' feature and wondered if anyone has used this..

Also, if this isn't an option, what freeware (like Acrnois True Image) app would you recommend?

Finally, if I clone the OS & apps (my current C drive essentially) and drop it onto the new SSD, surely this will cause device conflicts as the OS will be looking for the old hardware? ie: my current hard drive...

am I making sense? :(

personally i would go for a clean install on an SSD

but if you really want to clone

then acronis true image home 2009 will do it for you

thanks, I think it may be safer to do a clean install.. It will probably be a few months until I get an SSD anyway, the prices are a tad high at the moment!
