I had my Module One in Swansea last Friday the examiner was the most miserable git I had ever come across, firstly he refused to start the test due to my photographic ID not looking like me (5 years ago) and my signature was not exactly how it was printed on the card. He said I am not conducting the test – you could be doing this for your friend! – Luckily I had brought my passport :p

In the test area I was slow and methodical with my checks – several times he told me “hurry up- I have got a home to go to”

Either way he passed me

Come Module Two yesterday no minors – one Major

examiner give me a straight major for turning left, he thought I was too close to the inside line, although I disagree and would take the same line again a fail is a fail and I have to accept that.

What shocked me was he explained it to my instructor and he said that is ridiculous a minor would be harsh – they started having a proper rant with stuff like filled your quota for the month have you? I just stood there !!

Anyway his decision is final so have booked a test for 5 weeks’ time – next available date to try again - £75.00

Absolute farse if you ask me, been looking at doing my full motorbike licence for a while but just havent got round to it yet. Heard so many stories about the test, bit of a joke really.

I remember doing my car licence years ago, took me a couple times then and everything they failed me on was horse sh*te.

Ive never met a friendly 'normal' human driving/riding examiner, theyre all a bunch of miserable twits.

Like any profession, there are nice examiners and there are the sort that you have mentioned. It's pot luck as to which sort you get for your test.

My first attempt I had some rude old man who right off the bat was a total ****** (you won't find many of my posts with *'s but theres no better way to describe him), I quite was shocked and disgusted at his attitude.

Next attempt couldn't have been more different, the bloke was really nice. Clearly liked other Human Beings and I felt totaly at ease before I'd even got on the bike. I enjoyed the test so much I wouldn't have minded doing it again

My examiner seemed pretty neutral and got on with my instructor ok. Sounds like your two don't like each other much, which is a bit of a bugger and doesn't bode incredibly well.

My Mod 1 instructor seemed a bit grumpy and had a repuation for being an arse. He wasn't rude though. My Mod 2 seems fairly nuetral not particulary chatty but doing that all day what can you expect really.

Instructors said to report DSA test staff if you have a grievance other wise nothing will ever happen and they'll never be pulled up on it. So I'd probably mention the chap for your Mod1 being difficult and rude. However the Mod2 you can't really do much about. I got 2 minors for coming around corners a bit wide. Fingers crossed you get a different one next time.

I also parked in the examiners space when we returned to the test centre :p the bike bays were full! lol

The examiner in Chelmsford's really nice and very fair. I think Chelmsford's only got one bike examiner, is that normal?

Edit: Actually I suppose with mod 1 mod 2 etc there must be more now.

My mod 1 examiner in Macclesfield was a top guy, really cheerful.

My mod 2 examiner in Newcastle U Lyme was a class A breast, picked me up on a lot of minors but I passed, my instructor argued with him a little but I had passed so it didn't matter. My instructor later told me that I had the worst examiner in the area, but didn't tell me before as he didn't want me to get nervous.

Just thought i would update this post! i had my Mod2 Friday and passed with no minors:) - could not believe the independent riding section; it was one roundabout and about 400m straight - before he said that the end of the independent part of the test.

Anyway going to look at a bike this afternoon

Did my CBT the other day, not the same I know but still, miserable instructor. And from what my mates tell me, they had the same guy and he was miserable with them too. Never a word of encouragement spoken from him. Did something wrong it was, 'you're going to die' I took the wrong exit off a roundabout despite doing it correctly he still swore at me on the comms and I thought that was it, I'd failed. His instructions were, (and I was leading at this point) 'we're going to the shops'. I was in a town where I had no idea where the shops were either. Was pretty nerve-wracking after that but he still passed me.

/i'm a big boy for not completely cocking up an un-failable test. :p

My mate failed his CBT 3 times.

How do yo fail a CBT:confused: the only way is to end up in hospital or the instructor or rinding like a nutter:eek:

You fail a CBT if the instructors strictly apply the rules. I had to come back because I couldn't do a u turn. It was the first time I'd ever been on a bike!

It's somewhat unfair really, because I've heard of people crashing and still passing.

If true your example is what's unfair. Failing because you don't meet the required standard is fair.

Oh, agreed entirely. A lot of instructors are hesitant to fail people on the CBT though because they're touting for business for mod 1 and 2 courses. When you've failed and you hear people say, "How on Earth can you fail a CBT? I couldn't even do the manoeuvers and I crashed into a bush but I still passed", it's quite demoralising.
