Hello there!

So, I'm a seasoned veteran of this game, and have been playing them since I first got my hands on the CC2 demo at a friend's place back in the 90s. My favourite iteration of the franchise has since I played it been CC3. The linear campaign is quite appealing to me, as I feel more personal with my roster than I do in the newer games, where I don't care as much for the individual soldier's survival.

Anyway! I figured; Why not take my experience of multiple playthroughs with both side and do it all again for the millionth time, but this time, record it for youtube? And so I did!

Below you can find a link to both the German and the Russian playthroughs, both completed.

I hope some of you will find some enjoyment or entertainment value in my videos!

I take on challengers, so let me know if you want to do some multiplayer battles! I might do some AARs of them for my youtube channel.

Have a good one, folks!

It was a board game series first back in the late 70's I think (I owned all of them, including many others), but it's a great game and I so wish people would
return to board gaming (can add so much more to the experience).

I do some tabletop gaming sometimes - used to be heavily into warhammer when growing up, tried some board gaming also, but there's not really much of a scene for that where I live I'm afraid.

But are you telling me that my beloved Close Combat series are based off a board-game?? I have to google this, you have peeked my interest!

Looks quite interesting. I wish I had someone I could play games like these with :/

Me too.

I'm not asking pc gaming be replaced, but strategy board gaming has its place as well and while there are groups/clubs for it, I understand it being very difficult finding the time to
play those types of games :( ..

I'm looking over you vids and will get back about the game, but these days (considering age and health) it's more about keeping games down in time, so how long is the average game? (I understand it's a very rough estimate).

The games on my playthrough? If you want them to be shorter, I suggest checking out the Russian playthrough - the first 5 episodes are quite long as I'm on the defensive, and need to respond to what the enemies do, but as I progress into the war, episodes can be 5-10 minutes long - the game certainly has it's flaws, and so does my style of presenting, but I'm watching through them myself taking notes on what I can do better in the future.

Oh, and by the last 3-5 episodes of the Russian playthrough.. there might be some rage and profanities going around, which is unprofessional, I know - at that point however I'd been playing the game for a week straight, and the AI/flaws of the game had gradually been wearing me down :p

But on the topic of board/table top games, I used to hang out with a group of people that got together for them every now and then, but unfortunately life happened, people moved across the country, got mortgages, wives and kids, so it's not a common occurrence these days unfortunately. One of my sisters have found the interest for board games lately tho, so that's quite nice. Mostly I'd say Magic: The Gathering is what you can more easily get into at my location, if you want and actual IRL community to play with.

Hehe, yeah, it's not for everyone! It's a bit dated by now as well I suppose, as it is 25ish years old, but for me, it's a gem of a game series. Thanks for giving it a chance at least. I suppose if I hadn't seen it before, I might not be too keen on it today, but when I was a kid and this released... man, was it something! Still is, in my eyes!

Also, I most definitely am not presenting the game in the best way, I am painfully aware of this. It can be quite immersive, if you choose to delve into it. But certainly, I'm glad you brought the board game of it to my attention, I might have to get that for myself for christmas!

I'm not the most skillfull at modding of the game, but you could try your luck on http://www.closecombatseries.net - chances are someone's had the same issue as you at some point if you check the forum there.

Or alternatively you could check out one of these discords, and I'm sure someone who has a clue (unlike me) will be willing to help you out;

Not sure how long the links will be up for, but if you need them again just let me know, should be up for at least 24 hours.

That's the best I can do for you, I'm afraid.

I have most of the re-releases of the close combat games. My favourite is the Gold, Juno, Sword mod 9.5 on Last Stand Arnhem with some custom modding to have 5 turns a day.

That actually sounds like a real good change to make, that 5 turns per day one. I might have to look into that myself, as I plan on going through all the CC games for about the millionth time now over the span of maybe the next year or so :P And afterwards, I want to explore a bit of the mods as well! There are some really good mods out there for sure!

they are making a new Stalingrad mod for LSA, part 1 should be done sometime end of this year.

I want to try Meuse mod for that 1940 early war appeal. I love the infantry combat in close combat, I just wish steel division 2 has this type of infantry combat and was a little bit slower paced.

That certainly looks very good so far! And yeah, the early war appeal indeed! I love the CC games that has you using early tanks, like the French ones, and even makes halftracks viable! Sadly in CC3 they're pretty much just a waste of requisition points :/
