Decided to reinstall xp on my laptop because there was just too much excess rubbish and it could do with a formatting.

While formatting i remebered that i had all my physics coursework on there. You can imagine in how much of a panic i was in so i just thought its too late ill have to do it all again. I got my pendrive out and put it in the desktop and behold all my coursework was there because the night before, i had to print the 1st bits of it off.

Lesson umm always keep important work on pen drives, disks, floppy,etc

Phew

Ps was about to put a rant thread after that incident.

Or check that you don't have important files to backup before formatting

I did something similer back when I was in 6th form with my ICT coursework, except I didn't have it backed up

I keep my history coursework on my mp3 player ^_^
I have no idea what I would do if I lost 12 pages of carefully collected information which i got from making notes after going through dozens of books.

doesnt matter if you format it, there are plenty of tools to recover it

did that to me with my GCSE maths coursework..... They were meant to save my coursework on a floppy disk... but didn't.

I got a free webcam & shredder though - makes up for having to do it all again (NOT)

I saw "close shave" and "sheep hair" and thought this would be a wallace and gromit thread..

On topic: I have my Mphys project backed up on a usb pendrive, my laptop, and also the main computer. I can't imagine what would happen if I lost it... Fortunatly the data I am working with is stored in a HUGE database by NASA, so I can get hold of it again. But all my literature and progress so far would be a pig to try and re-create.
I dont intend on learning the hard way!!

(apart from the computer of course).
It's now stored on all 4 partitions, the mp3 player, and two of email addresses

Worst comes to worst, I got a hard copy and a scanner with OCR
